Make Hot Beats
How much do you think the skill of picking a good beat factors into a rappers skill?
I know rappers don’t usually make the beats themselves but they do pick them and have to rhyme over them. Good beats can make any song better but bad ones can ruin an album. So do you think a rapper knowing what type of beat is hot or will fit their style is a skill to be considered or trivial.
As a rapper…you pick beats that compliment your direction…style…and message…
A Good beat…is one that makes the song complete…adds something to the rapper performance…

Thats not really a “Hot” beat….but it fits the artist perfectly in this instance….
So yeah…i think it factors rather heavily…because it gives you a idea of the rappers understanding of how to convey a message,point,mood, or whatever…Make it more than just a song…so to speak.
@Cartier: You know in the past two years there has only been two Platinum albums that came from the south? I’m not sure how the south is dominating anything as far as rap goes…Rick Ross is the only other guy doing something and his last album barely sold more than Jadakiss…and had much more advertising….
